"Paranormal Activity 3": I Scream, You Scream, we all screamed, and wow, it feels good

I said in my review of Paranormal Activity 3 which are not easily scared by horror movies, and so I end up panning most of them. For me it's an occupational hazard: I see so many of these damn things that I know all the tricks. It is always difficult, a horror film, find the defense deliberately circumvent the genre. I think more about it, though, the more I realize that I, for many people, not critics have already spoken. Since I almost never see a horror film at a screening (most of them these days are not shown commentators in advance), I regularly breathe air, public reaction, and may I say if they saw a clunker S-Jekyll-and-Hyde like Dream House torture-porn or a successor to 3D, my experience is that most of the audience to sit through these movies, as do I, in an explosion-hazard state-chair, half-baked absorption. You can get shaken a few times, but the vast majority of today's horror films under the skin.

I see a very different experience in the preview I attended for the third film Paranormal Activity Once underway, it can feel almost every drop shock pulses in sync. First great cry - speaking roller coaster girl, the kind that explodes into a seizure and crash like a wave - came when winding room in the house and went to the cabinet (spoiler warning and the next point! Half), and the door opened, and everyone thought: "Come on, they will show us a monster of this early", but then, a kind of early, something that looked very much like a monster from Pop This cabinet.

Women in the audience all screamed. Personally, I jumped - but more than that, I felt a thrill shoot through me as an electric Volt. This was not only sudden high-noise-on-the-soundtrack-as-glorified-Boo! For a split second, I really felt that I saw ... something. I was scared, then moments later, I laughed. Because even if the monster was no monster at all, who discovered it - what I really saw - it was something in me. When you make a movie I could feel that this was fear that at some level, I thought. He did what? In ghosts? The demons? In the darkness? I do not think that in general, to me faith in these things. But in a funny way, the film showed me that ethnic programming on some deep cortical layer of my being, I do. What was afraid of me, to put it simply, I was unconscious fantasy.

To feel that cause vulnerability reason is that people always went to horror films. This is why they are such a ritual meal. And, of course, we now live in a taboo-breaking without discrimination, popular horror Renaissance big screen and small. But the great abundance of these things had a paradoxical effect. It's easy to get used to addicts who want a lot more than the fear - to solidify. In the film, we get a good scare once in a while as I did earlier this year with insidious or vicious and frightening prankishly Drag Me to Hell (2009), or long before (1996), in writing, and Scream 2 (1997).

But each of these films is based on an in-your-face specific, blood-nightmarish quality. I think it was something very special for me presents preview of Paranormal Activity 3, what we could still feel the same interesting, old-fashioned idea was that a whole audience could scream and jump and laugh at his own consistent basis trembling almost exclusively on the power of suggestion. That we were able to achieve all, not a community cathartic, because they fear that we experienced came at the end of everything on the screen handled as much as how the film was fear - the desire to believe in ghosts, monsters in - already lived deep in us.

I think that if for some reason inspired it, the fear, the film Paranormal Activity feel - like Blair Witch Project - can come off as obnoxious red, like a shaky-cam look. Therefore, these films inspire such hostility, as a furious scream I want my money back! Resentment from people who are sucked in to them. (So + C for Paranormal Activity 3 of the core cinema.) But for those of us who are in their terror corny / clever gothic ghost surveillance, these movies are working in a classic almost get caught. You do not need stars or big budgets or wild effects to intimidate us. Just ... we.

As honest: Who's afraid of - I mean, really terrorized - by Paranormal Activity 3? Who does not? And what was the last film PA3, you have done?
